Community Affairs

* Continue creating a positive image for the Chamber and Fiesta de las Artes through business seminars and workshops.

* Sponsor an event to educate new business owners.

* Develop information brochure with Fiesta history, how to profit from Fiesta, and the Chamber's historical role in downtown revitalization.

* Consider involvement in Rotary Career Day.

* Develop merchant follow-up survey taken after each Fiesta by committee volunteers.

Economic Development

* Co-host economic development summit to define and share economic development responsibilities in Hermosa Beach.

* Recommend to Governmental Affairs Division to endorse council's downtown enhancement proposal.

* Contact and inform downtown business owners about revitalization efforts.

* Develop information package on available property, city codes, etc. in Hermosa Beach.

* Form committee to address needs of Pacific Coast Highway and Aviation corridor businesses.

Governmental Affairs

* Develop position on city council's funding proposal for downtown enhancement.

* Keep pro-business council in office by framing election issues.

* Sponsor televised candidate forum and communicate candidate responses.

Internal Operations

* Amend 95/96 Board term by extending additional three months in order to allow board terms to coincide with fiscal years.

* Increase membership revenue by working with Membership Division.

Membership Services

* Aggressively market Chamber value and increase membership by 33%.

* Expand local and regional business information through well conceived and implemented marketing and education program.

* Further enhance networking opportunities through monthly mixers and at least two business seminars.

Recent Accomplishments

Referred Chamber member businesses to hundreds of inquiries for goods and services.

Mailed and distributed community information and relocation packets to hundreds of newcomers and potential residents.

Sponsored street festivals downtown in conjunction with beach events, creating opportunities for outside dining at local restaurants.

Sponsored Fiestas de las Artes, bringing over 100,000 residents and visitors to downtown Hermosa Beach on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

Surveyed Chamber members prior to developing new programs and services as part of our on-going commitment to be a "member-driven" organization.

Provided assistance to local businesses and directions to points of interest to hundreds of visitors.
